Wild Photo Competition, plus free mini photography tutorials

We are excited to announce that we’ve been working with award-winning wildlife photographer, Oliver Smart.

As well as an exciting Wild Photo Competition, we have created free online photography videos giving top tips on how to capture beautiful images of nature and wildlife.
The online photography videos are available on our website. (coming soon)

It’s competition time
After watching the online tutorials, put your photography skills to the test by taking part in our Wild Photo Competition. The competition will run between 25 May and 11 September 2022.  
Grab your camera or phone, and start taking pictures!

How to enter
Become immersed in wildlife and the glorious landscapes at Wild Place Project, snapping nature that inspires you! You can enter any of the following photo categories:
·         Native Wildlife (photos can include any native wildlife found at Wild Place Project such as birds, mice, frogs, squirrels and dragonflies)
·         Landscapes and Plants (photos can include any landscapes and plants found at Wild Place Project such as trees, Tower Meadow, wetland and ancient woodland)
·         Our Amazing Animals (photos can include any animals at Wild Place Project such as zebras, giraffes, cheetahs and lemurs)

What if you can’t get to Wild Place Project?
Don’t worry if you can’t get to Wild Place Project, you can still enter the competition by sending us your nature-inspired photo and enter it into the People and Wildlife category.

Who can enter?
Anyone can enter the competition and entries will be grouped by the following ages:
·         11 and under
·         12 to 17
·         18+

Where should I send my photo(s)?
Entries should be submitted via social media using the hashtag # WildPhotoCompetition making sure you tag us using @wildplacebristol for Facebook OR @wildplaceproject for Instagram. Please read the full terms and conditions for further information.

Snap up excellent prizes
The lucky winner of each age group will receive a Wild Place Project annual pass, a goody bag AND a session with award-winning wildlife photographer, Oliver Smart, for an immersive learning experience as you capture wildlife photographs side-by-side, learning the best techniques from our expert.
There is also an opportunity for winners to attend an awards presentation and for the winning photograph(s) to be featured by Wild Place Project on site and our digital and social communications…they may even be used on our official postcards and in our summer exhibits.
The competition will run from 25 May to 11 September 2022.

Wildlife photographer Oliver Smart
Oliver Smart is a wildlife photographer and ornithologist. His passion for nature and interest in photography captures the diversity of wildlife from behind the camera.
As well as scores of magazine covers, his images have been published in the national press, nature magazines, books and wildlife guides as well as an image on a Seychelles banknote!

Oliver travels the globe in search of iconic species in their natural habitat, often waiting days to capture the perfect photograph. His wildlife photography has taken him all over the world including Madagascar for lemurs.
