Daily Animal Talks & Feeds

Animal talk times below*:

10.30am –
‚Äč
Cheetah talk (Monday, Wednesday and Sunday): We're proudly home to three of the fastest land animals in the world - the cheetah. Wild Place Project is one of only four collections in the UK to keep the central African cheetah.

Gelada talk (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday): Meet Hobbit, Hercules, Harshit, Kito and Kidame, our gelada baboons. These five colourful characters are an all-male group that originally came from Zurich in Switzerland. Find the troop in their purpose-built enclosure, Gelada Rocks, at the end of our Webb's Brake woodland or as you exit Bear Wood.

11am – Bear Wood talk: Bear Wood tells the story of our British woodland from 8000 BC to present day. Discover four incredible ‘extinct’ British species – bears, wolves, lynxes and wolverines.

12.00pm – Meerkat talk and feed (no feed on Saturdays): Learn more about our mob of meerkats living in the walled garden. Meerkats are highly social animals and members of the mongoose family. They live in large, tight-knit groups called mobs or gangs, and take turns to look after the young and sentry duty.

1pm Lemur talk and feed: Enter the lemur walkthrough, and meet our mongoose lemurs, ring-tailed lemurs, white-belted ruffed lemurs and our Alaotran gentle lemurs.

2.15pm – Giraffe talk: Meet Tom, Dayo and Tico and learn about our three remarkable giraffes in our Bénoué National Park exhibit. Our raised, indoor viewing platform is the perfect way to spot our tallest residents as they graze inside the giraffe house. Or venture outside and watch the trio at eye level as they roam gracefully.

3pm - Bear Wood talk: Bear Wood tells the story of our British woodland from 8000 BC to present day. Discover four incredible ‘extinct’ British species – bears, wolves, lynxes and wolverines.

*Due to unforeseen circumstances, the talks we offer may vary daily, please check our talks noticeboard or ask a member of staff for the scheduled talks on the day of your visit.
