Wild Place Project to feature on Big Week at the Zoo
Wild Place Project and Bristol Zoo Gardens will feature on Channel 5’s documentary series ‘Big Week at the Zoo’ next week.
Presented by Helen Skelton and Nick Baker, Big Week at the Zoo celebrates the unique conservation work carried out by great British zoos.
It’s the second year for the series, which will air at 8pm, Monday to Friday (19 to 23 August), with views averaging 1 million per night.
“We are thrilled to announce that our new Bear Wood inhabitants at Wild Place Project, as well as our Asiatic lions, and Biggie, our 44-year-old giant Aldabra tortoise, at Bristol Zoo Gardens, are among the stars of this year’s show,” said Christoph Schwitzer, chief zoological officer at Bristol Zoological Society.
Bear Wood, telling the story of the exhibit development and the arrival of the once-native animals to Wild Place Project, will be a lead story in Friday’s episode (23 August).*
Bristol Zoo Gardens and Wild Place Project will feature alongside 11 other wildlife attractions in the UK.
Christoph added: “We hope everyone enjoys watching the episodes, which are the result of a great deal of hard work and passion from all the teams involved.”
Bristol Zoological Society is a conservation and education charity and relies on the generous support of the public not only to fund its important work at Bristol Zoo Gardens and Wild Place Project, but also its vital conservation and research projects spanning five continents.
